Frequently Asked Questions

Linda wants you to feel completely comfortable before ordering. Here's everything people usually ask — and if your question isn't here, just reach out and she'll answer personally.

Ordering

You can start by clicking Buy Now on any product page, which will take you to secure checkout. For custom orders, use the Contact Linda form to describe what you're looking for first — she'll confirm the details and price with you before you pay.

Linda personally confirms every order before beginning work, so you'll always know exactly what to expect.

Absolutely — in fact, Linda loves it when you do. For any order, you can describe the colors you want (or the colors of your room, your home, the person you're gifting to) and she'll select yarns that work beautifully together.

If you're not sure, you can also trust her completely. Tell her your general vibe — warm, cool, earthy, bright — and she'll make something wonderful.

Because every piece is made by hand to order, please allow:

Lap blankets: 2–4 weeks from order confirmation.
Full throws: 3–5 weeks from order confirmation.
Custom orders: 4–6 weeks from design confirmation.

After crocheting is complete, add a few days for careful packing and shipping. Linda will let you know when your piece is on the way. If you have a specific date you need it by — a birthday, a holiday — mention it when you order and she'll do her best to accommodate.

Yes! Just provide the recipient's address at checkout, and include a note in the order comments if you'd like a handwritten gift message included with the package. Linda is happy to make the unboxing feel special.

Yes, within reason. Linda works to standard sizes — lap (36"×48") and full throw (50"×65") — but if you need something a bit different, mention it and she'll let you know if it's possible and whether it affects the price. Larger sizes take more time and materials, so an extra-large afghan may cost a bit more.

Payment & Pricing

All payments are processed through Stripe, one of the most trusted payment processors in the world. Your credit card information is never stored on this site — it goes directly and securely through Stripe's encrypted system.

We accept all major credit and debit cards.

A full-size handmade afghan takes Linda 20–40 hours to complete — sometimes more, depending on the complexity of the pattern. That's not counting the time she spends choosing yarn, planning colors, and finishing the border.

When you buy one of Linda's afghans, you're not paying for a product that was made by a machine in ten minutes. You're paying for someone's time, skill, and care. That's worth something — and honestly, at these prices, it's still a remarkable value for what you receive.

Sales tax may be applied depending on your state and local laws. Any applicable tax will be shown clearly at checkout before you complete your purchase — no surprises.

Returns & Refunds

We can only accept returns of unopened, unused afghans within 14 days of delivery. Because these are personal, handmade items made to order, we are not able to restock or resell a blanket that has been opened and used — so returns are only possible in very limited circumstances.

We put this policy in place out of respect for Linda's time and craft. Please only order if you are sure you love the color, size, and material. If you have any doubts before ordering, reach out and ask — Linda would much rather answer a question upfront than have anyone disappointed.

That would be very unusual — Linda packs carefully — but if your afghan arrives with a defect or damage from shipping, please contact us within 7 days with a photo. We'll make it right. Linda stands behind everything she makes.

You may cancel an order before Linda has begun crocheting — typically within the first 24–48 hours after your order is confirmed. Once work has started, we're not able to offer a full refund, as the yarn has been purchased and hours invested.

If you need to cancel, contact us as soon as possible and we'll do everything we can to help.

Care & Materials

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle. Use a mild detergent — nothing harsh or bleach-based.

To dry: air dry flat is ideal and will help the afghan keep its shape longest. If you prefer the dryer, use the lowest heat setting. Avoid high heat, which can distort the fibers over time.

With reasonable care, a well-made crocheted afghan can last decades. Linda has blankets she made 30 years ago that still look wonderful.

Linda primarily works with premium acrylic and acrylic-wool blends — chosen for their softness, durability, colorfulness, and easy care. These yarns hold their color well through washing, resist pilling, and stay soft over time.

For custom orders, she can discuss other yarn options including wool or specialty fibers if you have a preference. Just ask — she loves talking about yarn.

The yarns Linda uses are soft, colorfast, and free of harsh chemicals — suitable for baby blankets. However, as with all blankets, please follow safe sleep guidelines for infants. A crocheted afghan is a beautiful gift for a new baby and a wonderful keepsake, but it should not be used as a sleep blanket for very young infants per pediatric safe sleep guidelines.

About Linda

Linda is a grandmother with more than 40 years of crocheting experience. Nagymama is the Hungarian word for grandmother, and it's the name her family calls her.

She crochets because she loves it — the rhythm of it, the way a piece grows row by row, and most of all the moment when someone wraps up in something she made. This shop exists because her family convinced her that other people deserved to experience that too.

Yes. Every message goes directly to Linda, and she writes every reply herself. She genuinely enjoys hearing from people — the stories behind orders, the colors people love, the occasions being celebrated. Don't be shy.

Linda works on one or two pieces at a time — she's one person, working by hand, and she takes pride in giving each piece her full attention. During busy seasons (fall and holiday time especially), lead times may be a little longer. If you need something by a specific date, it's always best to order early and mention your deadline.
